Mercedes Diesel Biodiesel SVO Electric Fuel Boost Pump Kit w/ Illustrated Instructions

From the improvements (sometimes dramatic) I have seen first hand and heard second hand (from our customers, I can confidently say this is one of the top performance upgrades for an older Mercedes diesel. Increasing fuel pressure can increase both power and MPG. One of the common reasons for a diesel to produce excess smoke and deliver poor fuel economy is low fuel pressure/flow to the injection pump. This can of course be caused by dirty fuel filters but it can also be caused by a worn mechanical lift pump as well as worn components inside the injection pump itself. When fuel pressure is low it can actually delay the release timing of your fuel injectors - thus causing incomplete fuel burn - leading to excess smoke and poor mileage. PLEASE NOTE: There are other conditions that can cause some of the same symptoms - ie., worn injector nozzles, incorrect injection timing (stretched timing chain), incorrect valve timing (worn cam / valves out of adjustment), and weak compression. Adding a fuel boost pump may or may not give you the results you desire unless these other issues have been addressed.

APPLICATION: This aux. electric heavy duty fuel pump mounts under the rear of the car near the outlet of the fuel tank in any 115, 116, 123 and 126 chassis diesel vehicle. Kit comes with an aluminum plate and angle to fabricate a custom mounting bracket, clear pre-filter, all clamps and mount hardware, 5 feet of biodiesel 5/16 inch spec hose, power activation relay, 2 fuse holders with fuses, battery and fuse box connection wire, wiring terminals and complete mounting instructions specific to the chassis mentioned above. This pump can also be mounted in all 201 and 124 chassis diesels in the area forward of the rear end that was originally used on the gas cars for the fuel pump and filter assembly. Instructions for mounting in this area are NOT included and if you have one of these chassis it may require additional mounting fabrication and hardware.

PERFORMANCE: Adding a boost pump can do a number of things for an older Mercedes running on diesel fuel. Over time the injection pump and mechanical lift pump wear internally to the point where performance will begin to suffer primarily showing up as a loss of power, especially when the engine is cold. When running thicker fuel such as B100 biodiesel or SVO adding this pump will do wonders to take the strain off the engine pump and increase fuel pressure and increase filter life. This newly released Walbro pump is the best demand pump on the market and well suited to move diesel, biodiesel, and SVO from the fuel tank to the engine. The pump runs only on demand at 10 psi pressure, is quiet, and draws less than 5 amps. Inlet and outlet are standard 1/4 female pipe threads so a number of different standard fittings can be used if you require a hose size smaller or larger than 5/16 inch I.D.

ADDED BONUS: It can also be a great aid in fast bleeding air out of your fuel system after a filter change or other maintenance. This is very important when running SVO as the factory hand primer pump just does not have the pull the move heavy vegetable oil from the tank and through a large filter. Some customers have praised this pump for this aspect alone. Instead of taking 15 to 20 minutes to bleed your SVO fuel system after filter changes you will have the system bled of all air in less than 2 minutes!

On some vehicles we have installed this on we have experienced a 20 to 30 perfect power increase. It can be like adding new life to an old engine. Especially power over 60 mph and when going up steep hills. IMPORTANT NOTE: We cannot guarantee results since we do not know the health of your engine. If you have weak compression or valves and injection pump out of time, you may not notice much difference by adding this pump. Also if you have worn out injectors don't expect much. If there are squirting badly this pump could increase smoking and decrease fuel economy. Do a complete tune-up on your engine before adding this pump!

INSTALLATION NOTES: Kit comes with both mounting and wiring instructions and ALL items you will need to complete installation (including wiring in engine compartment and wiring to rear of vehicle). We include a 3 wire 16.5 foot long wire harness to run under the car from the pump to the engine compartment. This wiring is shielded to protect from chaffing and damage. Zip ties are included to secure wire bundle along same path as your existing fuel lines.
