Getting WVO From Outside Drums

I am seriously considering getting one of Kent's dual tank kits for WVO. I have found two good sources for WVO that put out about 60 gallons a week each into outside drums or a large dumpster kind of thing. The oil looks okay and I can see through it in a sampling jar. I am still letting it settle out. My question is about the exposed dumpster and drums. It could get all kinds of things in it. Sometimes the lids are part off. Is this okay as long as you let it settle for 3 weeks and then filter it carefully? Bill Brewer Tehachapi, CA

Is there any way to get your source to put the Veggie oil back into the cubies they came from? The problem with the drums is exactly what you describe. I've seen leaves, bugs, cigarettes, etc inside the oil, and with the top open, there is a possibility for rainwater to contaminate it as well. If you're getting oil from outside barrels, you will want to dewater and filter your oil. Otherwise, you'll end up going through your FM100 filters way too quick... or worse, if you don't have a water separator, you'll end up destroying your engine.
