seeking advice. manual glow plug relay or bosch upgraded for a 300d turbo?

Hi there. I am planning for to replace/upgrade my glow plug relay and glow plugs. My car is a '83 300d turbo. I see in the mercedes source store there is both an upgraded bosch relay with the Duratherm plugs and a manual glow plug relay. I am seeking advice as to which is the best option for my car. I am not currently having any glow plug issues. But i don't have any idea when they were last replaced and i live in Colorado with many below freezing mornings. I am also about to install the STC 100 conversion. Any opinions based on knowledge or experience would be truly appreciated. Thanks, christopher

Hi Christopher, which system you choose to install in largely a personal preference. If you like everything automatic - dont' want to think about holding a separate button - or you have other people who might be driving the car then I suggest you stay with the auto timer relay upgrade. If you like the ability to manual control your glow cycle or you don't ever want to spend the money again for an expensive relay then the manual over-ride might be best for you. You choose......
