Spend $25 on purge or $90 on new injector tips?

My '80 240D has 237,000 miles on it. Just had the timing chain replaced and some other work done. Had latest Greasecar kit installed as well. Noted Kent's conversation about his son's 240D chugging up hills. Given the car's age and unknown status of the injector tips and similiar issues going up hill, should I just go ahead and buy new tips in deference to the diesel purge or is there more to the purge than just cleaning the tips? Thanks! Ben

Do a purge first

Hi Ben, in any case I would do a purge first. Not only does it clean the injectors it also cleans the injection pump. If you are running SVO we have injector tips that are great for the heavier oil. CLICK HERE to read more. To determine the actual conditon of your existing nozzles you will have to remove the injectors. There are other reasons why your engine may not be producing the power it should. See my Diesel Performance Tuning and Repair guide.

Yep, those were the tips I

Yep, those were the tips I was referring to. I think I'll do both. For $120 between the two it is probably money well spent. Going to get the book also. You got me for another $150! Thanks for all you do Kent. Really appreciate it! Best, Ben
