EGR valve ... on 82 300D

Hello, Thanks to Kents Vauum Troubleshooting guide, I found the sounrce of a MAJOR leak. Anyway, this leak has unknowingly caused my EGR to not function at all, until now ( 6 MONTHS OR SO) & question is... What does it do? I have been getting horrible gas milage 20 MPG. So now I hope it will improve. Will the EGR save my wallet, finally?!! Thanks James

It OK the modify the EGR. More vacuum and pickup. Your wallet and the invironment will thank you but you will have to find time to gather, settle, dewater & polish your WVO. Say goodbye to finishing that basement and let the savings begin.
