If you run or plan to run B20 to B100 biodiesel or SVO / SVO blend (straight vegetable oil) I highly recommend you do not count on just your factory filter to provide proper filtration. Our Stanadyne FM 100 filter has a much larger capacity and better water separation capability than the factory filter. This will give you better filter life and better performance over a longer period of time. This filter is much easier to change on the road and less messy that the factory filter. It fact it is the easiest filter to change of any of the competition aftermarket filters by far. No tools are required - only the twist of your wrist! It has proven to outperform any Racor Fitler on the market for less money and less hassle!
If you install this filter before the factory filter (diesel and biodiesel only) you will have the added redundacy of two filters. If the FM 100 should plug up on the road you can by pass it with a short hose adapter and continue running on the factory filter as a backup until you can replace the FM 100 element. This filter has dual options on the filter head for routing your inlet and outlet hoses (female 1/4 NPT). You can have both hoses on one side or inlet on on side and outlet on the other. Has unique hand thread bleeding screw on the filter head for fast air bleed and an easy drain fitting on the bottom of the filter to remove water.
This kit comes with the following:
Sorry due to the many different ways this filter can be used no instructions are included on how to hook it up to your existing fuel system. No other mounting hardware is included. I recommend you fabricate a vertical mounting plate out of aluminum. Easy to cut and bend and readily available at most hardware stores.
This is a picture of the fitler mounted in the left front of a 1978 Mercedes 240D. In fact this unit can go in any car or trunk where there is adequate room to mount it vertically. If you use a 5 inch wide plate you can mount additional components next to it (electric boost heater pictured here).
