If you have been contemplating either converting your current Mercedes diesel to run on free vegetable oil or are considering purchasing a used diesel to convert, then I highly recommend you purchase my complete set of 4 manuals before you head out on your quest. (the 5th book pictured is our SVO product Buyers Guide and is included free of change) The information contained in these illustrated manuals and guides could save you hundreds and possibly thousands of dollars. You can not believe how many emails I receive each week from customers who wish they had purchased and read some of my manuals before buying or converting a diesel to run on straight vegetable oil.
If you have questions about converting that you would like answered first please visit our Q and A Section by CLICKING HERE. Note: This same Q and A is included in these manuals.
To begin you must decide if you really want to do this! My INTRODUCTION TO SVO CONVERSIONS manual is written for those who are -on the fence- and would like more rational information before making a decision. Maybe you are not sure if it is worth all the hassle? Maybe you are concerned it will harm your engine? Maybe you just don't know where you would begin finding a fuel source? And then there are so many false claims and misinformation on the Internet you are not sure what is the best way to go. This manual will walk you through the 12 most common asked questions about SVO, the basic steps needed to convert, and what would be the best system to install in your Mercedes diesel based on for your car, climate and driving habits. After reading this I believe you will be able to make an intelligent decision on whether or not to convert.
Book Two:
You must buy the right diesel. I wrote the DIESEL BUYERS SURVIVAL GUIDE to help people save money and headache by purchasing the right diesel in the first place. I chose to call it a buyers survival guide because it includes information about surviving ownership as well as how to go out and buy right. I have always admonished potential buyers that if they want a satisfying ownership of an older Mercedes diesel, then they are going to have to spend the time to learn something about them. I often liken ownership to a marriage: not a good idea to marry someone you know nothing about! Likewise, it is not a good idea to buy a Mercedes Benz you know nothing about. Buyer beware they say, or the honeymoon can be over very quickly and the divorce quite painful.
On the other hand, if you do take the time to educate yourself about the various models, pros and cons of ownership, best and worst of each chassis, things to look for in your pre-purchase inspection, and ongoing maintenance issues, then ownership can be both an emotional and financially rewarding experience. Even if you do not intend to do any of the maintenance yourself, it is still important to become familiar with the mechanical and service aspects of the car you want to buy. You will be a more informed consumer when you take the car in to a shop for repair work. Your very best defense against being taken advantage of in this area is knowledge.
If you are considering ownership of a 1968 to 1995 Mercedes Benz diesel or you recently purchased one and want to learn more about it - then this book is written for you. By the time you finish reading it, my goal is to arm you with the knowledge you will need to go out and find the right car to purchase and then maintain it to a standard that will make it a safe and reliable daily driver you are proud to own.
Book Three:
You must secure your sources of vegetable oil and set up a fueling / filtering station. The COLLECTING AND FILTERING WASTE VEGETABLE OIL manual will cover the basic information on what it takes to run a diesel engine on SVO/WVO (straight vegetable oil / waste vegetable oil). Yes, that is correct and it really does work! If you play your cards right, you can even get your fuel for free. We are not talking about biodiesel here. Rather, we are talking about going out and collecting free waste vegetable oil from restaurants, filtering it (no other processing required), pouring it in your diesel and driving down the road. You will even be amazed at how well your engine sounds and runs and surprised that the smell of your exhaust may make you hungry! This is an introductory guide and written specifically for people who want to better understand the basic steps required to choose the right oil, collect it, store it, and fitler it for use in your diesel.
Book Four:
You must choose and purchase the right conversion kit, preferably install it yourself, and know how to efficiently operate it over the long haul. I specifically wrote the SVO ADVANCED THEORY AND OPERATIONS manual to help you do just that. It covers both the advanced theory and technical aspects of conversion. It can help you decide if you should install a STC (Single Tank Conversion) or DTC (Dual Tank Conversion). It will also honestly tell you what to expect down the road and the challenges you may have to face to keep your conversion humming along in tip top condition. We strongly urge every customer to install their own conversion. This will help you understand all its functions which will make it easier for you to troubleshoot problems down the road.
Book Five:
We have recently been getting more requests for product catatogs. We decided to deliver. Our first product catalog SVO PPRODUCT BUYERS GUIDE 2008 is specific to SVO kits and products is finished and ready to ship. This will outline all our different conversion kits as well as list individual upgrades you can make to an existing conversion. It will also show you individual components you can purchase if you want to build your own system.
