123 1985 300D turbo - motor oil dripping from ac compressor

Submitted by Max69 on 3 June 2008 - 7:53pm.
Just replaced front crank seal, spacer ring, oil pan gasket, drain plug, changed oil/filter, changed tranny fluid, filter and gasket. Also cleaned outside of oil pan. Also recharged freon. During replacment, cleaned most of the gunk from front of engine but did not get it all. Vacum pump was black with gunk, assumed most came from leaking front seal via the fan/pulleys. But left a little gunk under (right side) vacum pump. First couple of of test drives No drips. After an Italian tune up (about 150 miles) I notice oil droplets forming on bottom of AC compressor. I assume it is not coming from AC compressor but that it is ending up there. The bottom of vac pump looks wet and it is close to the top of ac compressor. I do have the vacum test/repair booklet and will read, read, read. Was looking tonight for the Why My Diesel leaks but see it is part of large/revised manual now. Is it possible the oil leak is from or around the pump where it connects to the block? Thanks for the help!!
