87 300SDL window switch removal?

how do i get to window switch in center console for replacement on my 87 300sdl?

Requires removal of the wood piece - carefully!

You have to get the wood piece out so you can replace the switches from the backside. This requires a number of steps. I am working on a manual for this but won't be done for a while. Refere to factory manual on CD for steps required.

found info on another forum,pull ashtray out until 2 screws appear underneath-remove these and remove ashtray,keep shifter in park and take out coin tray carefully to avoid damaging wood.slide wood towards engine one inch or so this will pop it out ,slowly lift and remove switch-easy and satisfying
