1984 300SD - Fuel Filter Specs

What micron level do the fuel filters, pre and main, filter to? I'm going to start burning WVO soon and I want to have a filter bag that matches or exceeds my fuel filters so I can minimize my chance of filter clogging.

I do not recommend using the factory filters for WVO filtering. They are just too small and don't have adequate water separation capability. Install a larger filter for better performance and longer filter life. CLICK HERE to view our solution.

Isn't this FM 100 filter the heart of your STC 1000 kit? I plan on getting the STC 1000 kit, I'm just trying to determine what type of filter I should use on my WVO before I put it in the car. I was looking at a 10 micron filter bag and wondering if that's the right level of filtration for my dirty oil.

Sorry, when you titled your post 82 300SD fuel filter specs I thought you were talking about the factory filters. The Stanadyne filter in our kits is 5 micron. Read more details in the explanation of the STC 100 kit. Thanks

Thanks for the info Kent. I was curious about the factory filters but that was to determine the level of filtering I needed for the dirty WVO. Since the Stanadyne is 5 microns, I'm going to use 5 micron filter bags to filter my WVO before it goes in the car fuel tank. In theory, I should be significantly decreasing my chance of filter blockages while driving if the WVO going in the tank is already filtered to the same level as the filter on the car. I just want to put really clean WVO in the car and keep things running smooth. I may be over doing it but I'd rather over-engineer than under. Is my theory sound?

I buy oil from folks who sell it filtered to one micron and dewatered. However I refilter with blue jeans cold to get rid of animal fats. Some people filter oil warm, and my SD hates it.
