87 300D 124 chassis 603 engine (6 cylinder). My glow plug light does NOT come on every time when i key the ignition to start the car. is there some sort of sensor that could be faulty?
in my 83 300D it comes on every time. does the 87 work the same or is it electronically controlled or something?
thanks.
Glow Plug replacement
The glow plugs on my 1987 300D Turbo look like they're buried. Must I remove the manifold before attempting to remove and replace them?
Tough design for the do-it-yourselfer.

Be sure to buy the cleaning kit
I have a 1980 300TD 3L 5 cyl.
You may have to depending upon your motor. I am new to the 123 thing, but I read there are two types and if you have a 6 cyl, I think you have to. You should be able to find a how to. I was surprised to see youtube vids of a rear diff fluid change... BUT... buy the reamer and plastic brush, mine where so clogged I had to tap in the reamer with my 17mm wrench, closed end (gently) tapping. After doing the job I am buying the ratchet wrench for the plugs and the crow foot for the injector lines. The Mercedes source sent me step by step directions with the kit, but be sure to read several opinions on procedure and difficulty. I start with my MCB manual and build from there.
I had to remove the fuel injection lines, throttle cable bracket and the glow plug wire harness(just made it that much easier to clear the area)2.5 hours first go, took my time as to not loose parts or knock something out of place. Bleeding the lines was no big deal.
