If you run or plan to run B20 to B100 biodiesel or SVO / SVO blend (straight vegetable oil) I highly recommend you do not count on just your factory filter to provide proper filtration. Our Stanadyne FM 100 filter has a much larger capacity and better water separation capability than the factory filter. This will give you better filter life and better performance over a longer period of time. This filter is much easier to change on the road and less messy that the factory filter.

In all my years of working around engines the one thing that absolutely drives me crazy is barbed hose fittings. This even got worse in recent years as many SVO WVO kit makers would send our their components with barbed hose fittings! Just try to remove a rubber fuel hose from a barbed fitting after is has been clamped down, or not even clamped down. Try to remove it after a few months when the hose has been heated and it is even worse!. You end up having to cut the hose off and if you are not careful you can nick the barb and the new hose will leak.

In our advanced conversion systems, we use what we call a circuit boss which is a self contained and complete electrical system totally separated from your factory wiring. The only place we draw from the factory wiring is one low amp connection at the fuse box to provide a keyed power source to activate this circuit boss. This is no wimpy unit either. 5 Cylinder 617 Diesel Fuel Injector Nozzles by Monark - SKU-DSL-COM5MIN We want to help you get your diesel performing better. If your injector tips are worn out here are my recommended replacements. These injector tips are made by Monark in Germany and they are designed with a finer mist pattern than that produced by the Bosch tips. My experience has shown that these tips work better (fuel burn) especially on higher mileage diesels with less than perfect compression numbers. On my own diesels I have also noticed less injector nailing (pinging noise) with these tips installed. Always replace the crushable heat shield washers when replacing your fuel injectors. Heavy Duty Carbon Reamer for Pencil Glow Plug Chambers - SKU-DSL-COMGLRT
This is our newly designed glow plug reamer. After spending years reaming out carbon from pencil glow plug holes I finally decided it was time to develop a better reamer than what is currently on the market. The Mercedes factory reamer is a well made steel unit from Germany but is mounted on a universal joint and is cumbersome and floppy to use on most Mercedes diesel engines. You end up paying $85 to $100 for this factory reamer for a feature that is very seldom needed or used. The other common glow plug reamers on the market are housed in aluminum stock and they do not hold up well over time. I have seen problems with the soft aluminum heads and threads deteriorating with heavy use.

Straight inline Prefilter with brass inserts - SKU-DSL-COMSIPFI
I like to use plastic inline filters to monitor the flow and quality of the fuel (yes you can even check for air in the system). The filters that have proven best for this application are Mercedes diesel pre-filters with brass insert ends for greater strength at the nipples. These filters do the job but are only available for 5/16 or 8 mm fuel hose. I have solved that problem by adding an alcohol resistant and very tight hose spacer on the end of each nipple. SVO WVO Conversion Installation Hose Clamp Kit - 25 Pak - Super Savings - SKU-GOP-COMPHC25 Now in a pak of 25 for even more savings. These are my favorite European hose clamps. They tighten securely, don't cut into the hose, and don't rust or break. If you are working on an SVO fuel system for any Mercedes I recommend you have these clamps on hand. Cheaps clamps can cuase air leaks leading to great frustration- the US style clamps with holes that cut into the rubber. These clamps will work on all 8 mm hose, 5/16 and 3/8 US spec fuel or coolant hose.

I have decided to sell my custom machined brass glow plug fitting complete with 1 new German Pencil Glow Plugs. Many are using the 8-inch pipe thread glow plugs from early Chevrolet diesel engines while others are using the larger thread Mercedes diesel engine glow plugs that are standard on most models from 1982-1993. The problem I have seen is people are trying to use these glow plugs with pipe fittings that are not designed specifically for them. This results in leaks and poor fit. Vegetable oil has a unique way of leaking out of any small crevice. It does indeed has an amazing wicking action.
