83 300CD Problems after changing Transmission fluid/filter ??
Submitted by spheil on 17 November 2009 - 3:04pm.
After I changed my automatic transmission fluid and filter the car seems to shift into reverse hard and shifting into 4th,unless I'm standing on it, shifts soft. Could I have moved something?
Can't think of anything else you could have done internally except all some dirt to get into the valve body mechanism. How many miles on the transmission? Kent Bergsma
I have about 350,000 miles on the transmission but it was running OK before I changed the filter and fluid. Also, it seems to drive OK if you are accelerating but if you back of the last gear change is long (sometimes sometimes it seems OK). And when you put it in reverse it "clunks" a little more than it use to. I tried to keep things as clean as possible and I feel like I did a good job.
With the mileage on your transmission it just may have some hardened seals and gummy passages in the throttle body. Often just putting in new fluid and filter will often upset the "equalibrium" in an aging tranny. CLICK HERE to read more. Report back results please. Kent Bergsma
Check your vacuum and wire connections

Try an additive
