For 123 Chassis 300TD, 201 Chassis 190E 16V and 126 Chassis 560SEL
This SLS manual was written specifically for 123 300TD wagon owners, but also applies to the models mentioned above, 300TDs from 1979-1985 and other chassis above up to 1990. If you own or are planning to purchase one of these popular wagons, I guarantee at some point you will have to deal with the SLS (Self Leveling Suspension) system. PLEASE NOTE: If you have a 1987 to 1995 124 chassis wagon this manual will only cover basic principles of troubleshooting. It does not cover the pump or the rear sway bar which are different on 124 wagons.
This product is amazing. It can be used to secure all kinds of things to all kinds of surfaces. Be sure and check out Kent's video showing how he uses in on his cars as well as in and around the shop. For the self stick stuff Kent prefers the actual Velcro Brand.
This kit contains the following:

Since 2011 we have released a number of new products and Kent is working on more this year.
1) First is a glow plug carbon reamer for the 1979 and older non turbo diesel engines that use the larger series style glow plugs. As far as we know this will be the first reamer of its kind available for these engines. Carbon reaming in the glow plug pre-chamber is not as critical as in the engines using the tighter fitting pencil glow plugs, BUT our research has shown that these older engines need is as well, especially high mileage engines that have had a lot of time to build up carbon over the years. The pictures below show just how much carbon we were able to pull out with Kent's new reamer from an old 240D head:
This is the time of year to get with it. From our experience here are the top repair issues that most Mercedes owners have learned to "live with". These problems occur and get worse over time. Many may not even realize how annoying the problem was until it gets fixed - and then WOW! They are exclaiming - Why didn't I do that sooner!!
DONT LIVE WITH THE PROBLEM ANY LONGER. JUST FIX IT!

I have known for years that many people would rather look at pictures than read text - especially when it comes to technical instructions. In the spring of 2010 I came up with a new format that I have chosen to call image-by-image instructions. This is a play on "step-by-step" since I include an image for every step. There is still text related to each image, but it has been reduced to the bare minimum. in some cases bullet phrases are used to make my point. This approach means lots of picture taking and more pages to print, but I believe you will appreciate the results.
I hope you enjoy this new format. Current repair kits being sold that include these new image-by-image instructions are:
If you have ever thought about replacing the seals in your sunroof here is a chance to read the manual so you can gauge the difficultly of the job. Seals and other repair parts can be purchased separately at a later date. Both the front and side seals can be replaced without removing the sunroof panel from the car. That makes replacing those seals relatively easy.
For all 108 109 114 115 107 116 123 126 201 and 124 Chassis 1968 to 1989. After 1989 a special cable was installed to keep the transmission locked until the key was turned. This manual does not cover working on those lock systems.
This manual written by Kent Bergsma will walk you step by step through the process of removing and replacing a Mercedes steering lock assembly. This can be a very frustrating job if you don't know some of the factory secrets. For anti-theft reasons the engineers designed it to be very difficult to remove!

Running badly means poor performance. It happens sooner or later to EVERY diesel owner. The word "performance" is often used to describe how well a diesel engine runs once started. The principles discussed will cover all Mercedes diesels from the mid 1950s to the mid 1990s. Throughout this manual I will use this word to discuss a number of common problems. How performance is rated can mean different things to different people. In the following pages I will relate diesel performance to the following four criteria:
• How much power does it produce?
• What kind of fuel economy does it deliver?
• How smooth does the engine run?
• How much does the engine smoke?

Applies to all 110 115 116 123 126 201 124 140 diesels from 1961 to 1994. From my many years of working professionally on Mercedes diesels I have learned fuel injectors are the single most neglected maintenance item. I believe there are a number of reasons for this. Partly it may be the mystery surrounding how injectors work and what needs to be done to service and repair them. Then there is the false notion that like the engine they will last forever. And finally, it can be very expensive to have a shop replace the fuel injectors. You may even have said to yourself, the engine seems to be running fine so why bother spending the money?
Have you ever wished you could get your hands on a manual that would answer all your diesel complaint questions? Are you tired of cruising around the internet posting your problems on different forums hoping that someone who really knows what they are talking about can give you the right answers?
190D 200D 220D 240D 300D 300CD 300TD 300SD 300SDL 350SD
This is the first release from Kent Bergsmas new Advanced DIY Mechanic Series of repair manuals. This printed and wire bound glow plug manual will teach you everything you have ever wanted to know about how your pre-glow system works, how to quickly diagnose faults, how to repair and replace failed parts, how to prevent further problems, and how to upgrade a sluggish glow plug system.
This is a must read for anyone who is currently running or seriously thinking about running his or her Mercedes 200D 220D 240D 300D 300CD 300TD 300SD 300SDL or 350SD on straight vegetable oil (SVO). It has been said that knowledge is power. This is really true when running on SVO / WVO. If you do not have any knowledge of how your system works or what needs to be done to maintain it, then you are going to literally lose your power. Any system will only be as reliable as YOU make it. Even if you plan to have your mechanic install your components, learn as much as you can during the installation process and then plan to keep abreast of future developments in this fledgling field.
Are you plagued with a diesel that wont turn off when you want it to? Has it been slowly taking more time to quit when you turn your key off? It is time to fix it before you have more problems! This troubleshooting guide is directly applicable to the following models: 1975 to 1976 115 chassis 300D. all 1977 to 1985 240D, 300D, 300TD, 300CD and 1978 to 1985 116 and 126 chassis 300SD (pictures and illustrations were taken from work on these cars. The instructions will also apply in principle to the later model 201 chassis 190D, 124 300D and TD, and 126 300SDL and 350SD to 1993.
FITS ALL 190E and 190D 1984 TO 1993. This is the repair manual you 201 owners have been waiting for. If your blower motor has been intermittent or some days it will not come on until you drive for a while, your heater motor brushes are most likely at the end of their life. Try this simple test. The next time your heater motor will not come on try slamming the door. If it suddenly starts running it could be that the brushes are just not making good contact. If your 201 has more than 120,000 miles total, then the brushes are something you may want to replace as a preventative measure. 15 or more year old heater motors are very prone to failing. If it has not failed yet, most likely it will sometime soon.
How many times have we (and I am talking about myself here) done an oil change on our vehicle, looked at the odometer and said to ourselves, I will write the mileage down later. I know that I have even tried to memorize the mileage, only to discover a couple months down the road that I am asking myself, Was that 82 or 83 thousand miles?
Once a door panel is removed, there are a number of maintenance items that can be attended to which are also covered in this manual.
Burned out glow plugs are becoming an increasing problem in the 60x. engines produced from the mid 1980s to the mid 1990s. This 60x. group in question includes the four cylinder (601) engine that came in the 1984-1986 190D 2.2, the five cylinder (602) engine that came in the 190D 2.5 and 300D 2.5 from 1986 to 1993, and the 6 cylinder (603) engine installed in the 124, 126, and 140 chassis 300D / TD (1987 only), 300SDL and 350SDL.
