This manual written by Kent Bergsma will walk you step by step through the process of removing and replacing a Mercedes steering lock assembly. This can be a very frustrating job if you don't know some of the factory secrets. For anti-theft reasons the engineers designed it to be very difficult to remove!
New in 2010! After years of receiving email and forum requests for tech help, the problems most customers have and the questions they ask start to follow a very predictable pattern. So to better help you find out what is wrong with your Mercedes and what parts you need to fix it we are launching a new WHATS WRONG section on our website. Each category will list the common problems, what steps need to be taken to fix them and links to the parts and instructions needed to tackle the repairs. Where applicable you will be directed to one of Kents kits or manuals for help in diagnosing your problem. We know that isolating the problem can be more frustrating than fixing it!!!
We are more than happy to help you will your parts needs, even for items we don't have listed on our website. Just email us with a list of items you would like and we will email you back with a total amount including shipping charges. Be sure to include your EXACT address and postal code.
When I was a kid working on old Ford street rods there was no such thing as nitrile gloves and to wear gloves then was considered sissy. Not so today. I would not even consider working on a car anymore without gloves. In fact my hands feel real naked without them. Experience has shown that one glove will not do the job in all cases. I have four types of gloves in my arsenal. Three of them are of the disposable type and one is a more permanent working glove that I call the super glove.
For all 111, 112, 108, 109, 114, 115, 107, 116, 123, 126 and 201 chassis (Non tilting roofs up through 1986). Do you have a power sunroof that is working poorly or maybe not at all? Does it move slowly or not at all in the morning, but when it heats up during the day it works just fine? Do you have to assist it by hand to get it fully opened or closed?
Here is a great way to save some money repairing your 114 and 115 sedan vacuum door lock actuators. (Will not work on 2-door coupes). When they go bad it is almost always due to cracks in the rubber diaphrams. These can be easily replaced once you remove your door panels. Sold in sets of 2. Two are required per actuator and you have three actuators in the left rear door and both right side doors. No instructions included by replacement is straightforward and self explanatory.

Specific instructions for each chassis model (see title) are included along with the special removal tools. As an added bonus we are including four of the larger size clear dash bulbs and four of the smaller size clear indicator bulbs at no extra charge. I have used a LOT of different kinds of grease in my lifetime - but this is my favorite. It has a high molybdenum and grahite content and does not dry out over time. It also has a great resistance to water and moisture deterioration. Just the right consistency - not too thick so it can get into tight places - not too thin so it stays in place.
On the body I use it in door check straps, window gears and mechanisms, seat tracks, door latch assemblies, sunroof cables and gears, hood and trunk hinges and any other metal to metal wear location. On suspension and chassis I use it on wheel bearings, ball joints, tie rods, u-joints, backing plates and more.
This 14 oz can is usually more than enough to service most Mercedes Benz. A must have in your tool box!
This new shift knob fits all 4 speed diesel transmissions from 1969 to 1983. It is a German aftermarket replacement that is made out of hard plastic rather than rubber, so it will not deteriorate like the original style. Good quality at a good price!
When changing a front door seal on one of the above chassis you most likely will ending up need new attachments clips (along front edge of door). The majority of the old clips will break when you try to remove them. This set of 6 clips from Mercedes Benz are enough to do one front door. NOTE: Back door clips on all chassis except the 126 have different clips. These are sure to make installation go more smoothly.
If you need door seals call or email us. There are vin splits on some models that make it hard to list all. We have great prices on these new seals.
We also have full door seal replacement instructions with special tools. CLICK HERE to order.

Installing new a door seal can be tricky if you have not done it before. Kent Bergsmas instructions give you a picture for each step to prevent mistakes and speed installation. The included free tools will help you remove the nylon clips and get the seal in the grove with damaging the rubber or scratching your paint.
IMPORTANT NOTE: We do not sell replacement antenna masts by year and model. We have run across too many problems with confusion, interchangeability, and previously swapped antennas. We sell a SMOOTH TAIL mast and a TOOTH TAIL mast. Smooth tails were used on most of the power Hirschmann antennas up to the early 80's and tooth tails were used on the later masts. For you to order the proper one you must partially remove your current mast and inspect. Is the white plastic tail more or less smooth or does it have teeth in it? The one describe here is the SMOOTH style. CLICK HERE to view the toothed style.
