Injectors for veggie oil

Submitted by Keith on 24 March 2009 - 10:22am.

Is the injector fuel spray setting different for veggie oil vs diesel?

I have one bad injector, it's leaking, that I need to replace. If the setting is different for veggie I need to let my mechanic know. He uses Bosch injectors, which is what is in my car for three years now since I installed the Elsbett system. (mercedessource came out with their veggie kit within months after I installed the Elsbett).

Thanks,

Keith

I don't have much experience with the Elsbett system, but from what I know, I would be surprised if they did not send you new or refurbished injectors. My understanding of that system is that they 'open up' the injectors for a more viscous fuel (veg oil) and so I would assume that the injectors had been modified. If you installed the system and did not replace the injectors, then they must be stock. When the oil is heated, it becomes 'thinner' and flows better through the lines and injectors.

I put the Monarch Nozzles in my 1976 300D

After I put the Monarch nozzles in my 1976 300D W115 I noticed overall improvement to power and smoothness and practially no smoke. When I pop tested the installed Monarch nozzles that I rebuilt myself I noticed more of a mist or fog than the Bosch nozzles which give off more of a stream of fuel when pop testing with DinoD/DieselNo2. I now have 12,000 miles on the Monarch nozzles with a two tank WVO 10 to 20% DinoD/Diesel No 2 mix with filtered WVO; setup and notice no decrease in performance in the Monarch nozzles to date. I am very pleased with the apparent quality of the Monarch Nozzles to be running well/like installed 12,000 miles ago: to 12,000 miles and still running well on WVO. Kent seems to recommend to clean and test the nozzles at approx. this time/mileage, however the engine is running smooth and with equal power to when installed 12,000 miles ago. I guess that I will wait: to when and if I notice a running/performance change to take out and look at and clean the nozzles.
