Installing New Rubber Exhaust Hangers ( Donuts )

Exhaust system rubber hangers usually fail due to age and heat. If you ignore this you may end up dragging the exhaust pipe down the road. First signs of failure are cracks in the rubber (see image). At the first sign of cracking replace them.

I prefer to use the heavy duty hangers we sell on our website CLICK HERE. These have an added center piece that helps the rubber from jumping off the curved hooks when you go over heavy bumps. To save time just cut the old hangars off but do it one at a time or your exhaust system will drop down on your head!

Putting new donuts on is a little tricky. They are too stiff to stretch by hand. Install on end first and firmly seat in place. Use a flat blade screwdriver and put it through the other end. Then place the tip of the screw driver on the center of tip of the other metal hook and pry the donut up and over onto until it snaps into place.
