Mercedes Window Regulator Repair and Replacement: An Introduction

An introduction to the cause and steps needed to repair an inoperative power window mechanism. This is a 2 STAR difficulty level for the D.I.Y. mechanic. Applies to almost all models with electric power windows from the mid 1960's to the mid 1990's.

126 Window Regulator Plastic Slide Replacement Kit

Fits all 126 chassis sedans 1981 to 1991, except for SEL models. Replacing the plastic slide on a broken window regulator with this improved part is a great way to save money and prevent future re-occurrence of this common problem. The original factory part is a two part hollow piece and very prone to breaking apart. The replacement part we offer is a solid piece of plastic and from my experience just does not fail.

And I have not been all that impressed with the original part. Then tend to fail way too often. You will need to remove the door panel to get to this unit. This is the power window regulator for the Driver's front door. If your driver's window is making bad noises or not going up and down properly this most likely is your problem. Does not include window motor.
