Cliff had been told by the dealer that his engine has no compression and was going to have to be rebuilt. That helps explain his excitement in discovery of the real problem...
Kent, Pump seemed to be solidly bolted, but I did leave the car at *** for diagnosis, so maybe they did something. At any rate, I checked valve timing marks and chain slack, and it looks really OK, maybe within 3 deg. THE REAL PROBLEM was the valve clearances, non-existant. Two held off the seat so that accounts for the two 0 cylinder compression checks. So after valve adjust, reset injection pump per your paper towel method, did the 50/50 STP oil treatment, it started right up! Seem to run and start fine. And with clean fuel (and bought some algae treatment at the marine store, it doesn't even smoke much after start. So, boy am I happy. Don't think I will let anyone else touch the car again. So I am going to need the Purge kit price, motor mount price, and driveshaft disc price current. Thank you so much, another success story...
