fuel return hose

A quick question: the fuel return hose (cigar shaped) running off of my main fuel filter is failing. When I replace it, do I bleed the system like I would when I replace my pre-filter? Or, is there something else I should do? Thanks.

you shouldn't need to bleed...

...after replacing just the return hose. Also, I don't think it is critical to replace it with a similarly cigar shaped line. It shouldn't be any more complicated than swapping out the line. Best, -Patrick

Thanks

Thanks. Hopefully the new hose will improve my MPG - fuel is leaking out of the tip of the old one. Mike

yes, now that...

...is one change you can make easily which I personally guarantee WILL improve you mileage. Take a look at your braided fuel return lines (the ones along the injectors) and see if they are also weeping fluid. Prolly a great time to evaluate all the other fuel lines - sends, vent, returns, etc. - for degradation. Best, -Patrick

No bleeding is necessary as any air at that point goes right back to the tank.
