I unscrewed the door lock button from a rear door and heard this terrible noise... the clinking of something falling down into the door. Now it seems obvious that the threaded rod that initiates the lock/unlock mechanism has fallen into the door. The problem is the door is locked and I am unsure as to how to get the door panel off to fix this. Can the lock be picked by a rookie or am I going to have to get a locksmith to open it? Why would it fall into the door unless it is not attached? Any ideas would be appreciated.

It is also the right rear door that is locked.
Not an easy task
You can talk with a locksmith but if that locking pin lever is jammed he may have a hard time getting the door open. The 126 door panel makes it even more challenging. I have run into this a couple of times and have had to rip off the door panel to fix the problem. That will require a used replacement door panel of course. I think I have some in grey, palimino, and black if you end up needed a door panel. Good luck. Kent
