Replace/Rebuild Inj Pump?

I've recently replaced the nozzles with your kit for my 300CD non turbo. The car ran great for two days, then it quit in a big way. I've replaced the filters, lift pump, bled the air out of the system and can now only get her started with the fast idle turned up. Lots of smoke, I mean LOTS of smoke and when the temp starts to come up and I turn the idle down she dies. She'll restart with the idle turned back up, and still all the smoke. I'm getting ready to pull the Injection Pump to have it gone through, or is there something that I'm missing?

Try diesel purge first

Before you pull the pump try running the engine directly on Diesel Purge. This will eliminate any restriction from the tank forward. (Have you cleaned the tank screen) and any problem with fuel.

How was it running before you replaced the nozzles? Did you bench test the injectors before re-installing? Did you install new heat shield washers?

Thanks for the reply Kent.

Thanks for the reply Kent. I've done the diesel purge running from a seperate fuel bottle with a feed and return line, no start. I hooked the feed line back to the reg tank and she'll start at high idle using my blend fuel. Lots of smoke but dies out when I turn the idle knob back down. Tried again tonight with straight diesel and it was the same with the purge, no start. When I replaced the nozzles, I changed the heat shields but I did not bench test the injectors. The car ran great for two days with the new nozzles in her. Before that there was a nailing sound when I would start to pull a longer hill, she'd lose a bit of power, but would make it up without too much loss of speed. with the new nozzles smooth and very responsive. I'm going to try and check the pump timing at the suggestion of a wrench buddy of mine(although he admits he's not well versed with diesels). I just don't want to pull and send out the pump for a rebuild before I've exhausted any other options.

Lift pump new or used

Did you install a new lift pump? It is getting down to either being the lift pump or the injection pump.

New lift pump was the first

New lift pump was the first step, sorry I forgot to mention that. I'm at the end of my wits on this one. Guess I'll pull it and hope the rebuild guys can work some magic.
