300D / auto trans removal

I have removed the engine & auto trans from a 1983 (built 12/82) 300TD. After removing all bell housing bolts I expected to be able to slide the transmission away from the engine. No luck. It appears to be stuck at about 3/4" to 1" seperation. Is there something I missed to release the trans or does it just need to be pulled apart with more force? -Mike

It sounds like you forgot to remove the bolts that hold the torque converter to the flex plate. Procedure is outlined in my manual Auto Transmission Removal and Replacement

82 300d 3rd gear clunk

Hello, my problem is when driving at a low speed there is a clunk when the trans shifts into 3rd gear and also when I come to a stop it clunks as the transmission down shifts. Is this the rear end, the flex disk or the transmission? This is a great web site keep up the great work. Thank you very much, Anthony
