123 wagon rear suspension

Submitted by jrobkirby on 25 March 2009 - 8:57am.

300td rear suspension very bouncy.
I have rebuilt the self levering valve and it seems to be working fine. I bought a set of used actuator balls from you and installed them. It might be my imagination but that seemed to help for a while but now Im back to the bouncing around when I go over any dips or bumps.
When I start the car it raises up a little and when I carry a load it also raises up. Any suggestions.
Thanks
Rob

Bouncing or bucking?

This is where semantics are very important in trying to determine the cause. What does bouncy or bouncing around mean? Does it feel like you are riding on an old buck board wagon without any springs (hardly going up and down)with a very abrupt or short bounce or is the rear of the car going up and down feeling quite mushy like bad shocks or no shocks are all? Let me know and I will advise. Kent Bergsma

1980 SLS value rebuild kit

Greetings,

I purchased the above kit awhile back, and just getting
to work on it. After parting the valve housing,
and removing the control disk, I can see the valve that corresponds to the one in the kit. It is very secure, but does compress/release when pushed. What is the best way to extract.

Thanks,

Bill B.

Sorry I can't help on this one

Bill, I don't have any instructions written up or pictures on rebuilding the leveling valve. It has been a number of years since I had one opened up and I honestly do not recall the procedure I used for valve removal. I recommend you try to get a hold of some factory service / overhaul instructions.
