Kent,
I need your help!!! After realizing your stock of used SLS high pressue hydraulic hoses was depleted, I did some research and sourced a replacment hose locally in Charlotte. While the disassembly/reassembly took about 30 minutes and presented no real problems...there was a slight issue when I test drove the car. Turns out I now have a whining noise coming from the engine bay, the volume of which correlates with RPM's. I've been told that there were plastic inserts in the original hose that I should have transferred to the new hose to prevent this noise. Unfortunately, there were no such inserts in the old hose. So, my questions are as follows! 1) What's causing the whining noise? 2) Can the cause of the noise damage my SLS system or even worse ruin the pump? 3) Where can these plastic inserts or a comparable solution be sourced? 4) Why do these things always happen to me?
Plastic inserts
Sorry, but I am not aware of any source for these inserts. They are required to prevent pressure pulsating noises inside the how. Are you certain the whine is not coming from the turbo? If you are convinced it related to the hose all I can suggest is you step up your search for a used replacement ( since no new parts are available).
