I'm replacing the engine in my 1981 240d sedan. I've found a decent engine but it has a level control pump. Is there anyway to bypass or remove? Thanks for the help.
I assume you are talking about the hydraulic pump on the cylinder head. This can be removed a the hole covered with a plate. DO NOT leave the pump installed!
This kit can be used when removing the hydraulic rear suspension pump from a 1979 to 1985 300TD 617 5 cylinder diesel engine (also old 240D wagons). When installing standard springs and shocks in a wagon the hydraulic pump must be removed from the front of the head or it may seize and damage your engine. This kit will also work on other models that use the hydraulic pump mounted on the front of the engine. ie 190E 16V, 560SEL and SEC. Comes with pre-drilled aluminum plate, correct gasket, and four mounting bolts of the correct length.
Cover plate available
