turbo oil leak '82 300D

while working on another issue under the hood, i noticed oil dripping from the bottom of my turbo's boost pressure control valve housing. i have determined that the oil is not coming from anywhere else higher on the block. the turbo spools up fine, but the garage floor is getting wet. do i have to rebuild the turbo or is there a simpler fix?

I have the same problem. I

I have the same problem. I thought(hoped) it was the gasket where a drain goes to the oil pan but it wasn't.

i have isolated this leak after replacing the exhaust/intake manifold gasket, both the turbo air supply gaskets on the down tube, the turbo drain gaskets and o-rings, and the turbo drain hose. other than replacing the entire turbo charger, due to the fact that the boost pressure control valve is pressure fitted onto the turbo housing (instead of being threaded on), i am really at a loss trying to rectify this one. it is true that there is a bit of blow-by oil getting recirculated, but my compression numbers are too good (24 bar across all cylinders!) to believe that there is any significant overage of oil vapors being recirculated through the turbo so as to produce "puddling" of oil within the control valve portion. would a rebuild on the turbo, even though it spools up fine and has no play in the fins, take care of the oil leak? anyone else have this issue and what did you do to resolve it?
