1982 240 D w/ 180k. Transmission flares ( sounds like its slipping) on all upshifts. Worse when car is under load (ie. uphill or hard acceleration) . Not as noticeable on manual shifts. Recent fluid/filter change no help- old fluid looked great- no metal in pan. Adjusted vacuum mod. valve for firmer shifts w/ no change. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Jon
You will need test gauges to know what is really going on...
Contrary to popular opinion you can't just "feel" or "guess" on a modulator adjustment. It is important to know what the pressure is actually doing inside the transmission. And better yet know what is happening to the pressure during the shift. This can best be done by hooking up a pressure test gauge to the transmission and performing a road test. My new Modulator Pressure Testing kit will be ready to ship by the end of this week. An announcement will be made in our monthly newsletter going out on Wednesday March 10.
