For 123 Chassis 300TD, 201 Chassis 190E 16V and 126 Chassis 560SEL
This SLS manual was written specifically for 123 300TD wagon owners, but also applies to the models mentioned above, 300TDs from 1979-1985 and other chassis above up to 1990. If you own or are planning to purchase one of these popular wagons, I guarantee at some point you will have to deal with the SLS (Self Leveling Suspension) system. PLEASE NOTE: If you have a 1987 to 1995 124 chassis wagon this manual will only cover basic principles of troubleshooting. It does not cover the pump or the rear sway bar which are different on 124 wagons.
Of all the upgrades for diesel engines that we offer on this site, I believe changing over to Monark injector nozzles will give you more performance improvements for the money that any other single product. From our own diesels to the glowing reports we hear from our customers - you may have a hard time believing just how true this claim is until you experience it first hand! And Monark nozzles are probably the last of a breed. Yes, they are still manufactured in Germany...
Recently, I set out with the goal to provide our customers with all the resources they would need to troubleshoot and repair the brake systems on their own cars. As your favorite Benz ages brake problems will arise and they can sometimes be difficult to diagnose. Since brakes are a safety related system it is also VERY important that any repair work be done properly and with great care.

If you are going to change a water pump on a 103 engine you will need this tool or you may never get the pump off. The hours wasted can lead to extreme mental meltdown (I speak from experience :-) ). Access and clearance is so tight that a normal 3/8 inch drive extension and universal will not work. This is a quality set of tools put together for you to work right from the start. The socket is Craftsman and the extensions and universal with adapter are Stanley. Partial instructions included.
This tool comes only with instructions to get on and to remove the water pump bolts. It DOES NOT come with complete instructions on removing and replacing the pump. Those instructions are in the works and will be available soon.
Kent has set out to try to find a solution for the annoying brake dust problem on his 300SL. For many of the older factory alloy wheels, brake dust covers are a good solution, but for the AMG wheels dust shields just don't look good and could affect brake cooling at high speeds. Of course Kent only drives slow.....
He is taking another look at the new generation of ceramic brake pads to see if a workable solution can be found. As of April 25, 2012 he has installed ceramic pads on his 1990 300SL as well as his 1990 190 2.6 and will be putting them to the test over the next few weeks. Will they live up to all their promises and hype. Check back in 4 to 5 weeks....

Kent loves these locking pliers. Nothing performs like a REAL vise grip! They are small enough to get into tight spaces and strong enough to hold anything you need in place. They are great quality and made in the USA.
We have all used adjustable wrenches, some are good but some are not so good. The most frustrating part is they loosen up by themselves and do not hold the fastener securely. Kent found this new design and is over joyed with its performance. It adjusts with a push button and locks securely in place when the button is released. It also has millimeter markings on the head so that you can set the wrench before putting it on the fastener. This is a very high quality Irwin tool.
