Lets face it! Diesel automatic transmissions can be troublesome, particularly those models that use vacuum to control shifts. This is largely due to the fact that diesel engines don't produce vacuum naturally. It has to be artificially manufactured. This is what makes diesel transmission tuning difficult. The numerous vacuum and pressure controls that were added to make it shift properly can create all kinds of problems when they fail or get out of adjustment.The big challenge in writing the manual was to clearly explain how to get all these controls working in harmony for the transmission to operate at peak efficiency.

616 617 Diesel Shutoff Valve Adjustment and Leak Fix Kit

If your shut off valve is leaking oil or is not shutting off quickly (even with a good valve and proper vacuum applied to it) you may need to remove it for repair. You can adjust its travel with the items included in this kit. Comes with 2 new gaskets, proper gasket sealant and instructions for adjustment. Comes with instructions on how to remove and replace the valve but that is done is readily done by removing the four bolts that hold the valve to the back of the injection pump.

This unique kit is designed to help you repair and restore one broken down front seat bottom so common in the 116, 123 and 126 chassis Mercedes built from 1973 to 1991. And it can be done without taking the upholstery off the seat! The seat must be removed from the car and placed upside down on a work bench. You work with hand tools to install the included hardware from the underside of the seat frame. Average repair time is 2 hours for one seat. No special tools are required other than a grinder if you need to cut one or more of the reinforcement springs included. Included are 15 full page step by step instructions (with 50 pictures) on how to remove the seat, fix the broken springs, beef up weak areas, test the repair, and install the seat back in the car.

300D 300TD 300CD 300SD Turbo Diesel Engine Anti Rattle Kit

Works only on the 5 cylinder turbo engine from 1978 to 1985 (116, 123, 126 chassis). 300D 300TD 300CD 300SD. Does not work on some 1985 models with trap oxidizer (air cleaner mounted off the engine). If you own or have owned a 116, 123, or 126 with a 617 turbo diesel engine for any length of time you are probably very aware of the air cleaner shake and rattle problem (except 1985 models with trap oxidizer). Rubber mounts loosen up or tear and the mounting brackets seem to break way too often. With this kit and instructions I hope to help you eliminate or at least drastically curtain this common problem. After working on literally hundreds of these engines I have found that just replacing the bracket and the three rubber mounts is not the answer.

Mercedes Dealing with Brake Pad Dust on Your Allow Wheels

Kent has set out to try to find a solution for the annoying brake dust problem on his 300SL. For many of the older factory alloy wheels, brake dust covers are a good solution, but for the AMG wheels dust shields just don't look good and could affect brake cooling at high speeds. Of course Kent only drives slow.....

He is taking another look at the new generation of ceramic brake pads to see if a workable solution can be found.  As of April 25, 2012 he has installed ceramic pads on his 1990 300SL as well as his 1990 190 2.6 and will be putting them to the test over the next few weeks.  Will they live up to all their promises and hype. Check back in 4 to 5 weeks....

Wiill NOT work on 107 chassis.  This is an important maintenance item that you have heard Kent talk about before. Be sure to see his video by clinking on the link below.. This screen is located in the bottom of the fuel tank and can become plugged with crud and algae and will lead to gradual power loss and eventual stalling of the engine. Many are not aware there is a filter screen in the bottom of the tank. You can change all your other filters and lines and still be perplexed as to why your engine is starving for fuel. Located just above the right rear axle shaft. But it is not easy to get out without the right tool!!
